So yeah, grab your popcorn, whatever.
So we started working on Satisfactory back in 2016.
And the game's been in early access for more than three years now.
And yeah, we've been working on this game for a long time.
And Satisfactory is a huge game.
And there's a huge scope of what it could be.
And we feel that it's important that we sort of come to terms with what the final release of the game should be.
Like, what does Satisfactory version 1.0 look like?
We've communicated in the past that we've been working towards 1.0, but what we haven't talked too much about is how we get there.
At the start of this year, we took a long look at the planning and we sort of realized that
Doing updates in the way we've done them up till now won't really align with the goal of us working towards the final release of the game.
Previously, we've always sort of looked at what can we develop in the loose time frame that we set between updates.
So like if there's work that needs to be done that won't fit that time frame, we've always kind of like pushed it for later.
But doing it this way, it feels like we're kind of running a marathon in between updates.
And what we'd rather be doing is look at
What do we need to do in general to finish the game and then take the time necessary to do so?
And that's sort of exactly what we're going to do now.
You know, it's been very exciting for us to make the updates we've made up to this point and package them in the way that we've done.
But we sort of realized that if we're to reach 1.0, we can't really follow the same release cycle.
It's more important for us right now to sort of focus on what's best for the game rather than like what's most exciting to do.
And I know that this might be disappointing to some of you because I know a lot of you are like really looking forward to these like big package releases.
But the truth is for us, the ever looming dread that we're not living up to expectations of what you want to see in those major updates makes it really hard for us to plan and work towards the final release of the game.
So here we are today, changing how we're releasing updates for the game.
And we're also planning on doing development a bit more openly, showing you things as we're working on them.
And we're going to start this off by revealing the content for our next update, which is going to be...
the update that comes after update 5, which probably is update 6.
So yeah, update 6, which is a working title.
