So after this I sat down with Mikael and Linus again and as well as like I think I talked to Emmett as well about this and just like a like Margit our producer basically just got on the same page as everyone and we decided that we knew that We this is what we wanted we wanted We wanted me and Mikael to not know what's going on to be completely left out of the loop.
Yep, so
The whole rest of the studio, they're testing stuff, but they have just not informed us.
And we want to do that because we felt like it would be more fun to follow along as we all discover these things together.
It's kind of more accurate anyway, how development works here.
Yeah, sometimes.
Definitely sometimes.
It's like, we need to stay on top of everyone.
Like, what are you working on?
We knew we wanted an opening shot of Mikel confused or sussed out some sort of emotion along those lines of why I'm responding so much.
And then talking with Gab, one of our tech artists upstairs, he let me know, and for context here, he is one of the main people working on the new vehicle pathing system.
And he told me that he really wanted us to have some sort of moment where we honor the shitty vehicle halves that we had in the past.
And I was like, I immediately thought of In the Arms of the Angel from those dog shelter commercials back when you'd wake up in the middle of the night and there'd be some crying dog on your TV with Sarah McLachlan singing.
That's fucked up.
Mikael
I've never seen
Jason
that.
It was really popular in the U.S. back in the early 2000s.
Okay.
I don't know if anyone in chat remembers that, but I immediately thought of that.
And I thought we had to do that.
So once I knew this, I went into the second storyboard where this was where we kind of knew that Mikael was the one in therapy.
So I immediately started like, this is like more of the actual storyboard process.
The US is a very strange place.
It's kind of cursed.
So I knew I wanted like the vibe of like Dokes from Dexter, kind of like being really sussed out of like what's going on.
Like he knows I know something or he thinks I know something and just something's afoot.
And so that's kind of where we got that vibe from.
Knew I wanted like the therapy couch of Emmett, you know, kind of consoling Mikkel through this.
And so kind of took the same approach here where I just like wrote out what we had.
I knew what we wanted all the way up to like vehicle pads.
Originally it was gonna be like Mikael seeing my path with like my face on it.
Cause I think in some of the, I believe in some of the vehicle paths, you can actually see on like the icon where it'll show what vehicle it's for.
But we ended up going with like the universal path because it just made more sense.
So yeah, got all the way up to fluid trucks,
where basically, yeah, so Mikael notices a path of Jason's face and follows it outside.
Mikael notices Jason and mentions that they're being subject to 1.2 testing.
Jason accepts it and says it explains why he keeps blacking out when he's taking a shit.
That clearly didn't make it in.
Anyway, he's waiting for a delivery of cola.
Mikael, excited at the thought of more Pepsi Max, is ultimately completely and utterly devastated to learn that the delivery was botched and the truck brought Yulmust.
And I still hate you for it.
Yeah.
So yeah, and then wrote out the the rain scene and basically just Just kind of wrote it out.
Wasn't sure how we were gonna transition from that Shut off weather.
We're drying off the the game mode randomization I knew we want we wanted like a programmer at this point to be the one like messing of sliders as all of our like our Community room is changing or like we're changing Yeah
And then, yeah, so basically wrote out the rough outline here of everything else.
So we break reality with the randomization.
We get thrown into the game.
We're cool with it.
Now we can talk about the actual game mode randomization settings.
Then we go over other features.
I still was kind of like a little vague about this, about what was going to be in here.
But it felt intact.
Mikael
It felt kind of...
I want to say YOLOable.
Jason
Yeah.
It felt like it would come
Mikael
together if we just went at it.
Definitely.
Jason
Yeah.
So we knew I needed to fit all the features in here.
I knew how we wanted to end the video.
So honestly, the outline of the video is here.
This is basically what you ended up with.
but just in its most rudimentary form.
It held up.
And so once I had this, again, I brought it to Mikael and Linus, talked about it with our production team, talked about it with Hemet.
It just works.
Yeah.
