Jason
So first we have a breakdown to look at let's go That's unrelated but I just wanted I just wanted to show you that Okay, so we'll start now with the Miro board.
So basically I
It all began here.
We learned what the features were for 1.2.
Jason Gold is angry.
God damn, I'm so mad.
I'm so mad.
We got a hold of the features, right?
And we thought to ourselves, what can we do?
What can we do to make this entertaining for everyone to learn what's coming to their favorite game?
And we had some ideas, particularly around rain, I think, where we kept coming back to, like, we wanted to start raining in real life.
And we got to thinking, if we're doing rain in real life, we might as well
make all the features in real life, right?
So the elevator pitch is that in-game features are being tested within the CSS office.
And so I took some blocks, took some colored blocks,
And I basically just threw the features in there, and then me and Mikael, we just kind of brainstormed.
Brainstormed what we could do here.
So originally, with the Portal Potty, for a long time, we were discussing... Like, we were actually teasing that for a while, where I had Portal Potties on the monitor for a... What video was that?
That was the... That was a check-in video we did...
Oh yeah, the August video, right?
Yeah.
Yes.
We did an August video thing and I had the thumbs up and you saw the porta-potties behind me.
Me respawning all the time, like where I respawned in the Christmas video.
Mikael
Yeah, and the initial draft that actually lived for quite a bit in our heads for the video was that the you dying and respawning gag in the notes video would be ongoing for most of it.
But it ended up being contained to the, I guess, opening, the prologue.
Jason
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So we had a lot of ideas floating around and originally that first scene where Mikhail's in therapy and he's trying to figure out, you know, what's going on.
He thinks he's losing his mind.
He keeps killing me.
Do I even want you dead?
Yeah, he doesn't know.
And originally it was supposed to be mean therapy because I keep dying, but I keep respawning and I'm not really sure how to deal with that.
I'm having a hard time getting back home.
I just, I don't know, I'm a pretty clumsy guy.
So it's like, it's just concerning.
So that was the original feature that we put.
And then for photo mode, had some ideas for like,
You know, calling back to that day in the life short we put on the channel last year might maybe tap into like me being obsessed with short form content and Mikael thinking I'm a child.
I'm 27.
And so that didn't really pan out because it was kind of lame.
Mikael
But you are the office zoomer confirmed.
Jason
No, no, that's Nikita, right?
I suppose.
And
Mikael
Gab.
But in demeanor.
In
Jason
demeanor, sure.
It's
Mikael
definitely you.
Sure.
And you're only like half a year older than them.
Jason
No, I think Nikita is much younger.
Yeah, maybe.
But yeah, Fluid Truck, I mean, it's self-explanatory.
It was going to be a Pepsi truck for a long time.
And then you sabotaged it.
Yeah, but then we thought the Yule Must would be a little bit funnier.
Pathing.
Originally, we were going to have a whole thing where everyone had a Demeemer.
That's good, silly goose.
That's good
Mikael
stuff.
That's actually spot on for you as
Jason
well.
That's good.
Let's keep that.
What's up, Demeemer?
Originally, we were going to have a number of people having different paths that go throughout the office.
But it just didn't really pan out in the grand story of it all.
So yeah, basically, we just went through all these ideas.
We knew we wanted to do the Fullmetal Alchemist meme for the Reign.
Like that one kept coming back up.
Scored
Mikael
so
Jason
quickly.
Game of randomizer.
I originally wanted to do, I don't know if you guys have seen it, but it's this guy who like he builds a bike or like is building out his dream desk and he's like spawning things in to reality and it's VFX, but he's like,
He's like basically like fucking popping it out of existence.
And I thought that would be really cool to have like a shot of a desk with like items popping in and out of the desk and getting all randomized to show off the randomization features.
That also didn't pan out.
so as you can see some ideas came through some ideas didn't this is just like the very initial brainstorm for a video and this is how i work as well like in other jobs i've had um you just want all of your your brain vomit out on a page yeah
Mikael
and then one stuff when some things stick because that happens not even only with this video but for most if not all videos that you linus and i have been raising together since you got here
that in this video's case with the full metal joke and the rain there are some jokes or some scenes that we just think up and all three of us just laugh at them and we just realize yeah that's a stayer and so like there are some jokes or key beats in videos that no matter how the script mutates we try to keep those because those jokes usually jokes just land really well the first time and if the gut feeling and initial reaction is just that there's stuff like that being so funny
We feel like that's almost a surefire sell for the audience anyway.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah.
And the rain joke for this one was that.
Definitely.
Jason
So after that, we moved on to... Yeah, exactly.
If you can't stop giggling, you know you got something.
