The tasks, like the design tasks you do, changes in scope, basically, because when you start out in the beginning of a project, you do very, very broad strokes.
As for game director versus game designer, it's a lot of
I guess administrative work.
Now I got to also review people's work.
I'm basically a gatekeeper.
Is this done or not?
People will, you know, they will come to you and they will tell you like, oh, I saw this.
And then when we added this thing, I thought this would be really cool.
And sometimes that's absurd.
And it's like, no, that's a terrible idea.
But sometimes it's a really good idea.
What's more important is knowing which ideas work well together.
So what you should do is you should let people express their ideas to you.
Bad ideas are not necessarily always bad.
They just don't fit in this case.
So filter out the things that don't fit.
and let the things that fit well go in because you make the game better and you make that person, you know, more excited to work on the game.
Often people don't really know, like they have this idea and they don't really know what it is and they're trying to express it.
So sometimes you gotta help them, you know, get it out, sort of fish it out.
