And Google Earth is a great tool to use as a reference or to gain any kind of inspiration as well and to study landscape patterns as well so we know what we can do in our world to make it appear to be a little bit more believable.
Our world designer also uses Adobe Photoshop.
One of the main reasons for it is for the creation and adjustment of our pigment map.
The pigment map is essentially just like a map of the world that has like colors painted over the top.
And then the textures in the world at those locations can pull from that pigment map and mix the colors on the pigment map with the colors in the world.
And so basically what this means is we can use
the same material, for example, a certain kind of grass in one area or in two different areas, but source colors from the pigment map in different ways so that they have different tints to them.
And so they appear a little bit different.
So we don't have to create multiple textures for every different area.
We can just mix the colors from the pigment map into the terrain, for example.
I hope that makes sense.
It's a little bit hard to communicate, but.
We'll see.
