As always, something you can do is verify your game files, either via Steam or Epic in the settings.

Some people have also had the issue where they needed to make a clean install of the game, so just verifying wouldn't work.

They actually needed to completely remove everything and reinstall the game.

Remember to back up your save files if you do this.

Save files aren't saved in the same directory as your installed directory and whatnot.
