Considering building beautiful factories is such a big part of the game, why was the decision made to not include any new decorative parts in 1.2?
Technically, building beautiful factories was never part of the game.
What AEA tells you explicitly is that efficiency and... What's the actual word?
Productivity.
There we go.
Come first.
Save the planet.
I don't care if it looks like a fucking shoebox.
If it works, it works.
And from there you expand.
Decorative items are very... Again, we...
This...
I will say this every dev stream.
I'll say it for the last 10, I'll say it for the next 10.
We hear the feedback.
We know it's one of the loudest feedback points for just stuff to add in the game.
We're not deaf to that.
And we do feel like decorative spaces have a time and place in the game for flora and even fauna.
there is stuff like what makes coherent sense in the world, because that is near and dear to many people, especially Hanna, for good reason.
The world should stay coherent to, you know, the... to comfortable extents, but then there's also stuff like, I mean, half walls or triangular shapes or foundations, circle foundations, round foundations, we have triangular foundations.
And all that.
And, again, there are reasons.
Both pertaining to...
Both pertaining to... First, the simple logistics of just adding these items, which the tech talks I won't go into too much.
But then also...
I'm not saying it's a huge chunk of it, but there is a small part of it...
There is a small part of it just being insanely fun to see what you guys can pull off with the game already.
You've built Howl's Moving Castle.
You've built Sydney Operas.
You've built Victorian Goth Churches.
You've built Steampunk Airships in almost all vanilla.
You've built the goddamn Fixmas factories for the competition.
All of that with the game's current limits.
And...
expanding that Again, it's not a huge reason as to why but a small part of it is it's kind of it's kind of touch to expand your options because when we add Very little you guys can run with that exponentially which can both be
Extremely fun, but also a bit scary on our end To to what ends you break the game which yeah aesthetically like yeah It's very hard to break the game when building, you know something for the pure aesthetic of it, but you never know There's a lot of complex ifs and buts about new decoratives, but we hear you and we we do say internally Or rather communities being told and I do agree with them.
There is a time and place for it 1.2 is not quite it
Bummer answer, I'm sorry, but that's how it is.
