thank you hello hey everybody welcome hope you're all having a good old Tuesday anyways hey everybody Welcome to the weekly Dev stream with me your boy it's it's it's this time again this time of the week we hang out I hope you're all doing well it's Taco Tuesday I actually had tacos for lunch so I guess it is at least for me, hope everyone's doing well it's, you look tired that's that's always great to hear
[Laughter]
, yeah I hope you're all doing well I don't I don't have an intro here because like I feel like I get less and less prepared every time I go on stream these days but, it's fine I've had a I've had a week already this is but it's not it's just Tuesday shut up, so yeah, you know this Factory stops I can be here right that's perfect timing I hope I wish you all not running out of power but if it's during the Tuesday weekly devstream that is perfectly fine I love also- I love seeing messages from people where they're like finally I can catch a stream there's there's always a couple of people that comment this that like oh I can finally catch it which is which is pretty cool, there's a lot of people that that do watch these streams, when you look at like the CCU you get one number but like when you look at like the number of people that have you know the the total unique viewers it's a completely different number so there's a lot of people tuning in and like leaving but that's totally fine that's sort of the point of this anyways, oh no sorry to hear that Patrick I hope you get well soon we are unique or one that is true, yeah I don't know if I should just jump into state of Dev immediately I don't really have too much to talk about really today, I guess I could talk about, the the where is it I've lost my tool wait where is it oh here it is okay scared for a second, yeah I just kind of want to jump into the game like I'm not gonna lie I just really want to jump into the game, I was looking forward to today, playing because like my week my weeks have been very busy and, this is like the one time where I feel like I can actually like sort of I am working but I'm also like sort of taking it easy you know what I mean like this is the the least stressful part of my week, it is it is rough being alone I'll tell you that much but, yeah I just want to play satisfactory that's that's the that's the that's the reason, where was I going with this oh yeah so, let's talk about the stuff that we talked about last week which was we had like our I think I don't think it was our first but we had a like, maintenance window for our online services, if you weren't here last week maybe you didn't see this and we post we try to post it as in as many places as possible but it's impossible to catch everyone but essentially we had a little maintenance window last week on Wednesday and it was like two hours during the morning we ended up not needing the entire window which was pretty good and, I'm not sure what the plan is going forward if we need more maintenance windows, I think the thing we were testing during the maintenance window last week was successful I think Liz I didn't hear anything no just checking if someone said anything, foreign yeah it was pretty good I don't know as well how did you go for you guys I don't know most people probably didn't notice, because- I don't think we needed the entire window and and I don't even know, if we ended up actually like disturbing anyone playing the game so I think that's good anyways we'll see if we need more in the future or not and if we do we'll try and keep you guys updated and let you guys know when these windows appear and, I guess I'll take it from there yeah never play on Wednesdays between 10 to 12. like we did pick a spot where like the least amount of people would be playing and when we were looking at like our tracking numbers that was the best block, sort of the best spot the best spot would have been way earlier but we're not at the office at that point so it's not a good time anyways, Sarah Dev is essentially just that we're still working on the update for Brazil working up at eight which is insane to say at this point because like I believe when we first announced update eight or like started rolling out like news about update eight that was in like April and we're closing in on on October actually which is pretty nutty
[Music]
, so this is this has been this has been an update in the works, and we're working on rolling out update 8.2, which will hopefully come out sometime soon the thing that is sort of, I think I've talked about this previously but we are working on we've updated the game to use the newer a new a newer version of Unreal Engine so update will now run on on unrelated 5.2 and while we're working on that we've also been working on updating our online subsystem, and we do need to update our online subsystem for a couple of reasons one is because we have pretty much never updated it, and you guys won't really notice any difference really 513 shut up, and, too soon and
[Music]
, the other thing is like there's a couple of back-end requirements on steams and where they're like you have to update, and we needed to do that before November and we needed to do it on on all our live versions of the game so, that's what we're doing and honestly the the upgrade to 5.2 has been pretty smooth and we've ironed out most of the Kinks the game itself is quite stable that we have internally the problem is that like online subsystem, integration there's still a couple of things that we need to work out there and we're still like sort of you know doing them as they come like the issues that run into, so that's sort of the state of things right now we're as soon as we feel like we have an online subsystem that's stable enough then we will roll out the next patch for experimental which will include the which will be the 0.8.2 update which will have, the engine update which will hopefully resolve a lot of crashes for people that are playing on later generation graphics cards and there might be like a bunch of few small tweaks here and there some bug fixing I don't have the entire list I actually haven't played that version of the build I know I talked about that last week where I was contemplating like maybe we should play that build on on on stream the build isn't stable enough for that, unfortunately that's not because of the game isn't unstable it's the whole online substance of the thing, so working really hard on that and, we hope to get it out as soon as possible it will be sometime in October not entirely sure when in October but that's the goal at least or that's how we're feeling but if we end up getting stuck then it is what it is you know, one thing I kind of want to talk about real quickly before we progress is that I think this is a topic that we'll talk more about when we get closer to actually getting ready for updated to come out on Early Access but it's really I think it's key information here for most folks that have been asking me like hey I've I've tried update 8, on experimental and my computer can't handle it like I can't play the game on the latest inspiro experimental Branch for performance reasons or maybe your your, we did raise like the hardware requirements so like maybe it's because of that please note that the game is DRM free so if you've tried experimental and you can't play the game and you're really worried that like you won't be able to keep playing satisfactory in the future once it comes out on Early Access then make a copy of the game, don't distribute it because that's that's I guess the law but but since the game is DRM free like you're you're sort of free to do what you want with your own copy so long as you don't distribute it, so like if you want to Tinker with it or you know whatever or keep it you can totally do that, there's no easy way to like backtrack on Steam, and we've started debating internally if if what we should do in those in that situation but this has happened before, when we updated the game and the game is in Early Access and we sort of have to like you know push forward and not trying to like maintain old versions of the game because it slows down production significantly doing that and I think at the end of the day you guys want the game to be done as much as we do
[Music]
, so, yeah just take the directory the game is saved in and copy it if you're if you're scared that you won't be able to play keep playing the game in update 8 but do give up a chance and and do check out when we get the next patch out like the 8.2, give that a shot and try that out as well and see if it works on your computer because I believe that one we will be a little bit more stable than the current version that we have but I guess we'll see you know I guess we'll see, so, yeah that's that's what I want to talk about I'll talk more about that later, not today but like later during the
[Music]
the dance that is updated, release so no no ETA unfortunately on when the release or update it will be like I mentioned we think sometime in October we'll be able to have the next patch out on experimental then it sort of depends on like what stability issues you guys run into and we hope we've been doing a lot of QA on our internal build for this so we think it'll be a lot more stable than you know a lot of our other releases but it's it's impossible to to tell for sure, given the amount of paperware, yeah I think that's, state of Dev y'all where are my thingies I can't there's my tool people who see it if anything else same thing you guys want to talk about you guys you guys should give the state of death for once why do I have to do it every time you know you all should do it for once see how see how easy it is, anyways all right let's, let's jump into the game and and if I forgot something then I'll I'll we'll do it in the rewind or something but I think that's pretty much it, yeah you can probably use steam command to install, previous versions, I believe let me jump back let's actually talk about that for a little second there is a way on Steam at least where you can use steam command to like, download old, I think it's called Depot on Steam which is like the depot is like the collection of a patch, so like you can technically install older versions of the game on Steam but it's quite complicated and sometimes it doesn't work and- I think I might be wrong on this but I think there's like some limit on like how many builds you can go back on Steam, because I don't think steam maybe they do but- I don't think it seems steam saves every single version going so like if you update the game 5 000 times you don't have like 5 000 versions saved on Steam I think it only saves like the last couple of updates so like using steam command to like download old patches, might work in the near future but like the further we go the more it might not work but that is also an option for sure I think there are tutorials on how to do this online, it seems to go back years and updates but I think it's it's maybe not so much time but like how many updates they make, so like if you make a lot of patches but I might be wrong because I've heard people that try to download like really old versions of satisfactory and it was impossible so I'm not sure what's up with that but, yeah that is also an alternative, that I want to bring to light here, but yeah I'll probably make a video about this when we're close to the release of updated on early access to address these kind of things so I'm I'm kind of like preemptively this is a primitive strike on that topic on the stream so actually one more thing I want to talk about before we say to that I just realized I knew there was something else, this week's I'm this week I'm working on a video where, I think it will be kind of redundant for y'all on stream but, since we do these like Q A's every single stream, you all can ask questions and I answer as to my best of my ability and I haven't done that on a YouTube site for a long time and there's a lot of people that don't join or can't join these streams so I put together I'm gonna put together like a q a video this week, and I've asked questions and I'm gonna ask questions on like Twitter and Facebook and and, Steam and I'm probably gonna grab like a couple of questions that I find here during the Q a segment which by the way we're still using the slido thing so if you do exclamation mark AMA you can get access to that link I'll probably grab like the history of like I think I still have the history of all the questions that I've gotten there so I'll pick the best sort of, it doesn't really concern this stream too much but just so you guys know that I'm probably gonna try and like grab some of these questions, and and Marv I was legitimately, gonna mentioned that there's probably gonna be a reference to that one but no promises
